Acoustic Ceiling Cassettes for Auditorium and Performance Spaces

We have prepared acoustic ceiling components for a number of auditorium and performance space projects across the UK. Auditorium acoustic ceiling work is some of the most technically demanding preparation in drylining. The acoustic performance requirements are exacting. The geometry is rarely straightforward. The installation sequence has to be planned before a single panel is cut.

Getting it right offsite means your team arrives on site with components that fit, are labelled to sequence, and are ready to install without modification.

Mass Barrier Acoustic Ceiling Details

Mass barrier ceiling connection details for auditorium and performance spaces involve multiple layers of coordination before manufacture can begin.

Services are often already modelled and fixed in position. The panel sizes have to work around them, not the other way around. Structural sub-frames need hanger positions confirmed before M&E can proceed. Column positions introduce geometric variations between panels that have to be measured and accounted for individually.

Each of these constraints affects the next. Working through them methodically, from drawing to confirmed dimensions to manufacture, is what keeps the project moving.

A Cambridge Auditorium

We recently prepared acoustic wave cassettes for an auditorium project in Cambridge. The brief was a mass barrier ceiling connection detail with acoustic wave cassettes spanning a complex structural grid.

The services had already been modelled and could not be repositioned. Panel sizes were revised to suit. Hanger locations for the Unistrut sub-frame were confirmed from our drawings before M&E works proceeded. Column variations required individual panel adjustments , including a revised manufacture drawing for one column position before that panel went into production.

The installation was sequenced , A and B panels first, then C and D areas to follow , to ensure the panels installed correctly around the columns and kept the remaining run square. We manufactured and labelled to that sequence.

The contractor sent their board to our Elsenham workshop directly from their supplier. Nothing changed in their supply chain. The entire job was handled remotely, drawing to manufacture, with no site visits required. Accurate drawings, clear communication and a methodical approach meant the cassettes were ready on time, labelled to installation sequence and collected by the contractor’s team on a confirmed date.

How We Work on Auditorium Projects

Every auditorium acoustic ceiling job starts with a drawing review. Before anything is quoted or cut, we confirm the information is sufficient to manufacture accurately. If it isn’t, we come back with specific questions rather than making assumptions.

  • Panel sizes and geometry confirmed against the structural grid and column positions
  • Hanger and sub-frame setting out information provided where required
  • You send your board to our workshop from your existing supplier
  • Components CNC cut, formed and labelled to your installation sequence
  • Collection from Elsenham or delivery to site, scheduled to suit your programme

Your board supply chain stays intact. Your merchant rates and rebates are unaffected. We provide the manufacture, preparation and sequencing.

Board Types We Work With

We cut acoustic ceiling cassettes and mass barrier ceiling components from all standard board grades used in auditorium acoustic details, including British Gypsum SoundBloc, Knauf Soundshield, FireLine and specialist acoustic boards. If your specification uses a board not listed here, send us the detail and we will confirm.

Working on an Auditorium Acoustic Ceiling Detail?

Send us your drawings or cutting schedule. We will review the detail, confirm what can be manufactured offsite and come back with a price.
