What Do I Need to Send for Pre-Cut Deflection Head Strips?

If you’re ordering pre-cut deflection head strips, the sizes matter, but they’re only part of the story.

The more we understand about your project, programme and site, the more useful we can be.

Communication is golden.

What information do we need?

Start by sending us as much information as you have.

Ideally, this will include:

  • Board manufacturer and board type
  • Board thickness
  • Strip widths
  • Required lengths
  • Quantities
  • Number of boards available
  • Drawing or cutting schedule
  • Delivery location
  • Required delivery date or programme

But the cutting information is only part of the conversation.

Tell us about the site too

What is the site actually like?

  • Can we deliver easily?
  • Is there a forklift or hoist available?
  • Are there restrictions on deliveries?
  • Do you need all of the strips at once, or would phased deliveries suit the programme better?
  • Do you need them urgently?

How would you like them labelled?

  • Floor by floor?
  • Plot by plot?
  • Area by area?

The more we know, the easier it is for us to manufacture, pack and deliver the strips in a way that actually helps the site team.

Don’t wait until everything is perfect

You do not need to have every piece of information neatly scheduled before speaking to us.

Send us what you have.

That might be:

  • A drawing
  • A cutting schedule
  • A marked-up PDF
  • A list of sizes
  • A board schedule
  • Project information

We can work with different timelines, including urgent requirements.

The important thing is to communicate with us as early as possible.

Why move deflection strip cutting off-site?

Pre-cut deflection head strips are not simply about saving the cost of somebody cutting plasterboard.

There is a much bigger picture.

Moving the cutting off-site can mean:

  • Less plasterboard cutting on site
  • Less dust
  • Reduced reliance on cutting equipment and extraction
  • Less waste
  • Fewer skips
  • Less labour spent measuring and cutting
  • More consistent strip sizes
  • Better use of each plasterboard sheet

We plan the cutting so we can make the best possible use of the plasterboard supplied.

So this is not just about cost.

It is about time, labour, waste, skips, dust and getting the job moving.

Our plasterboard cutting service can also be used for other board sizes and components required for the same project.

Ordering pattresses as well?

Deflection strips and pattresses are both repetitive cutting jobs that can consume valuable site labour.

If you also need pre-cut pattresses for the same project, send those requirements at the same time.

Less cutting also means less waste and dust

Moving repetitive cutting away from site can help with reducing plasterboard waste and site cutting, dust, cutting equipment and skips.

Send it over and we’ll take a look.

The more we know about the site, programme, delivery and labelling, the more we can help.

Pre-Cut Deflection Head Strips: FAQ

What information do I need to order pre-cut deflection head strips?

Send us the plasterboard manufacturer and board type, thickness, required strip widths and lengths, quantities and delivery location. If you have a drawing, partition schedule or cutting schedule, send that too. The more information we have about the project and programme, the more effectively we can plan the cutting and delivery.

The required width depends on the partition system and project specification. Send us the relevant drawing or partition detail and we can cut the strips to the dimensions required. Do not assume one standard width applies to every project.

Deflection strips can be cut from the board specified for the project, including boards from manufacturers such as British Gypsum, Knauf and Siniat. The correct board type and thickness should always follow the partition specification.

Yes. You can continue buying plasterboard through your existing supply chain and merchant arrangements. Send the board to us with the cutting information and we carry out the cutting.

Turnaround depends on quantity, board availability, cutting requirements and delivery arrangements. If the requirement is urgent, tell us when you first contact us. We can work with different project timelines and will tell you what is achievable.

Yes. Tell us how the site team needs the strips organised. They can be labelled and bundled by floor, plot, zone, area or another agreed sequence to make installation easier when they arrive.

Moving repetitive cutting off-site reduces site labour, dust, waste and the need for cutting equipment. It also allows the plasterboard sheets to be planned and cut efficiently, helping make better use of the material supplied.
