SINGLE LAYER PLASTERBOARD
PARTITIONS FIRE RATED
Fire-rated plasterboard partitions - Single layer wall system with shadow head and skirting details
Tested – 33 MINUTES INTEGRITY AND 33 MINUTES INSULATION
75mm solid module construction
75mm solid module using 50mm vertical stud, plaster shadow head trim (code SA13) and skirting (code SA14) with taped and filled plasterboard joints.
SA Solutions’ Seamless Abutments single layer plasterboard partition system is a solid module with an overall thickness of 75mm. The construction uses SA Solutions 50mm galvanised steel stud (code 853), U-channel head and base track (code 835), and horizontal fixing strap (code DM53GF1), fixed to the supporting structure at 600mm centres.
Studs, board joints and cavity insulation
The vertical studs are cut a nominal 18mm short of the floor-to-ceiling height and positioned at 600mm centres. A single skin of 12.5mm thick taper edge plasterboard is screw fixed to each side using BZP finished 25mm long drywall screws (code SA319) at 300mm centres.
The vertical board joints are taped and wet plaster filled across the butt joint taper section of the plasterboards to mask the screw fixings. The partition cavity is filled with SA Solutions’ 60mm thick Crown factory clad (code 880).
Head shadow trim and skirting detail
The Seamless Abutments head shadow trim (code SA13) and skirting (code SA14) plaster mouldings are screw fixed using BZP finished 25mm long drywall screws (code SA319) at 300mm centres to the U-channel head and base track (code 835) and fixing strap (code DM53GF1).
The horizontal joints between the plasterboard and plaster mouldings are then taped and wet plaster filled across the butt joint section.
Acoustic, thermal and project-specific requirements
The system includes insulation board as part of the tested construction. Any acoustic, thermal or project-specific performance requirements should be checked against the relevant specification, supporting test evidence and project design requirements.
THE CONSTRUCTION HAS BEEN TESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH:
- British Standard 476: Part 22: 1987
- and is described within The Building Test Centres Report No. BTC 17322F
- and International Fire Consultants Ltd Field of Application Report PAR/10876/01
- 33 minutes Integrity and 33 minutes Insulation are achieved when the module is constructed using all Seamless Abutments system components as shown within this data sheet and described in the systems technical manual and test / assessment reports
Build it as tested
The Seamless Abutments single layer plasterboard partition system must be constructed with intumescent mastic at the abutments.
Foams and intumescent seals
It is important that the type, size and fitting detail for the foams and intumescent seals remain as tested. These products can exhibit significantly different characteristics, which may alter the fire performance achieved during the test. They must not be considered interchangeable, even where an individual product has been tested separately or where the dimensions appear to be maintained.
Acoustic, thermal and project-specific requirements
The system includes insulation board as part of the tested construction. Any acoustic, thermal or project-specific performance requirements should be checked against the relevant specification, supporting test evidence and project design requirements.
